“Thinning the bull rushes in the lower pond” work party, this Friday at 9:30 a.m.

Hello everyone –

This Friday morning at 9:30 a.m., there will be a work party at the lower pond to once again thin out the bull rushes.  They are apparently very happy in that pond, and they grow profusely.   So, we need to cut them back to prevent the pond from filling in, and to keep the pond drainage working well (a bunch of our ground water drains into, and out of, that pond).

If you are willing to come help, that would be GRAND!   We will meet by the lower pond at 9:30.  It looks like the weather will be good that day. Wear clothes that can get a bit dirty and wet, eh.

Here is the plan:

  • Adrian and Violet will cut bull rushes and bring them to the shore.
  • We need a couple of people to take the bull rushes from the shore to the strata trailer (which will be close by) and put them in the trailer.

A question:  does someone have some hip waders that either Violet or Adrian could use?  There is one set of hip waders that the strata bought last year that we will use, but if there is another set that someone could loan us, that would be helpful. (Otherwise, Adrian will use the strata hip waders, and Violet will go out in her canoe on the pond and cut bull rushes that way, like in past years. )

Please email me at violet@violetvanhees.com if you can come help.

Thanks VERY much!
