Hello all –
Deep Bay is on Voluntary Stage 3 Water Conservation now:
The Deep Bay Improvement District website page has posted the following:
Current Watering Restrictions: Voluntary Stage 3 Water Conservation Chart
Conservation always encouraged to ensure water for fire protection.
For more info: www.teamwatersmart.ca
For our address (5300), Stage 3 water restrictions are:
- Watering grass once a week, on Thursdays (since our address is an even number), between 7 to10 a.m. or 7 to 10 p.m. for two hours maximum
- Washing vehicles, boats or house siding between 7-10 a.m. or 7-10 p.m. on Thursdays
- Voluntary restrictions encouraging people to reduce water use where they are able to for:
- hand watering, drip irrigation
- filling fountains, pools, hot tubs
- pressure washing walkways, driveways, sidewalks
- new lawn permits
- vegetable gardens and fruit trees are exempt from all watering restrictions
In the next few days I will be adjusting the timers for the watering schedule for strata grass sprinkler areas, to have watering happen only on Thursdays. I will be wild and crazy and start the watering earlier than 7 a.m. in the morning on Thursday to have less evaporation. The entrance way borders will continue to be watered by drip irrigation every day, as they are now.
Our strata mowing schedule will be adjusted in weeks ahead, due to less grass growing:
Since we will be watering less, the grass will not be growing much.
I have talked with Parker’s Mowing (Paul). For this water restriction period, he will mow this week on Tuesday/Wednesday as usual, and then he will likely mow every two to three weeks, while the weather stays dry.
While most of the strata will see very little (if any) grass growth with this low level of watering, I know there are a few areas around the strata that tend to be naturally wetter – so I ask for your patience for those areas that may see longer-than-usual grass growing between mows.
Once rain comes again and the grass is growing again, Paul will resume his usual weekly mowing.
Thanks everyone –
Violet (LLE Council, Landscaping)
