Hi all –
Well now, I took at look at the weather forecast, and …. there are basically two days that show the sun, and the rest shows rain! So, I am going to take advantage of that sun and schedule the final Fall Weeding Fest for the entrance way borders, etc. for this week Monday and Tuesday, October 18 and 19.
Here is the plan:
- I will be out doing stuff along the entrance way on this week Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. For those who would like to help with this, here is what need to happen:
- weed the borders
- trim the plants and shrubs along the entrance way (does someone have one of those handy-dandy motorized hedge clippers that could be used?) . The Rhododendrons don’t need trimming, but the big patches of ground-cover plants (heather, sage, etc.) do need to be trimmed down and trimmed back off the road.
- trim the plants and shrubs at front entrance so that we can see the road from the driveway (and visa versa) when driving, and so that we can see the stonewalls and our signs etc. (Be careful – there are several of those Very Thorny Shrubs out there!!)
- I have 40 of those big paper yard waste bags here.
- I will keep 10 or so for the entrance way (for weeding, trimming of the shrubs, etc.).
- If you would like to do tidying up of your own yard areas or other areas in the strata, you are welcome to come get a few bags from my place for the yard waste. I will leave them by my front door, outside. Please REALLY PACK DOWN and compress the contents of the bags when you fill them, so that we have enough – and so that there are fewer to haul – thanks! 🙂
- Please put the well-stuffed bags of yard waste either on the grass by the T-Junction of the entrance way, or in the visitor parking by the lower pond. Once I see how many bags there are, I will figure out whether I can haul them in my car or whether I need to ask someone to take the utility trailer full of bags, to the DBL waste facility in Parksville.
Thanks!

p.s. I have a call in to Dan to talk with him about the year-end landscaping stuff that his company will do, and I should know about that in the next day or two.
