Hi everyone – Spring has Sprung! And so, landscaping season begins 🙂
Dan, from Best Turf (formerly Jim’s Mowing, but now he has his own company) phoned me today and asked that by next week Thursday we mark all the irrigation sprinkler heads in all the lawn areas, as we have in years past. We have the small pin flags in the shed that can be used for this.
Dan will come next Thursday (March 25) with the lawn aerator, and he wants to be sure not to damage the sprinkler heads during the aeration process.
I will go out in the next day or two to mark the sprinkler heads I can find. I would like to ask you all to please check in the areas around your units that I haven’t missed any, once you see the flags out there. Thanks!
Other landscaping excitement that is coming up:
I will be planning several spring work parties (I’ll send out more details later), probably for late March or early April, to do the following:
- do the first big weeding of the entrance way borders (Best Turf will do touch-up weedings during the summer, but we need to do the first big one in the spring)
- plant the final 6 rhododendrons in the entranceway
- put some additional good soil on each of the shrubs and trees along the entranceway
- spread new mulch on top of the entranceway borders once the weeding etc. is done, and
- trim low branches from shrubs and trees around the property that are in the way of the mowers, along the driveway, around the perimeter of the property.
And, I will be asking a Certified Arborist to come walk the property with me, probably in April, to identify any trees that look like they are a risk for damaging (e.g. falling down on) our buildings. If there are, I will figure out a plan for Strata Council to approve for how and when to deal with those.
I look forward to working with y’all again this year to keep things looking good and growing happily around here!
All the best to each of you –
Violet, LLC Landscaping Director
