Update on WeedMan work on the grass areas: moss treatment is now scheduled for tomorrow (Monday), and Aeration for Thursday this week

Hello all –

Alas, WeedMan did not come last week to do the moss control treatment. Paul had to phone them again about this, and they are now planning to come here tomorrow (Monday) to do the moss control:

  • The treatment is not toxic to pets, but it can discolour their fur if they go on the grass when it is still wet from the treatment (it is an iron-based product, and it “rusts” once exposed to the air until it is dry.) So, you may want to keep your pets off the grass for a few hours after the product is applied.
  • To avoid removing the moss control treatment product before it has had the time to “do its thing”, this week Paul will NOT be picking up the grass as he mows. Instead, the cut grass will be left as mulch. This may look a bit messier than the remarkable job Paul usually does, so I wanted to let you know why this will be happening this week.

WeedMan is also scheduled to come do the grass aeration work on Thursday of this week:

  • As I mentioned in the note I sent out a couple of days ago, please put a pin flag by the sprinkler heads around your home by Wednesday evening. This will help make sure the sprinklers are not damaged during the aeration word. (Paul and I will go flag the sprinklers in the “strata watered” grass areas on Wednesday afternoon).
    • There are pin flags in the shed, if you need some flags.  The key for the shed is on the ramp to the door, under the shingle that is closest to the door on the right when looking at the door. The pin flags are in the front right corner of the shed.
    • You don’t need to put flags by the sprinklers that are right along the edges of your sidewalk, driveway, or road. Just mark the ones that are more “in the middle” of the grassy areas.
    • If you have questions about this, or about starting up your sprinkler system, please contact me:  violet@violetvanhees.com; 250-327-4751
  • Once the aeration is done, you can remove the pin flags again.

thanks!
