Waste Water Plant needs major repairs

The Waste Water Management Committee has been working to find a solution for a problem that has arisen with our septic system’s Well A. Unfortunately, the Well A lift station is beyond repair by any of our local efforts, including our contractor, Core Water. Currently Well A is operating under a temporary basis, but it must be properly repaired. The committee has contacted a number of firms who might be able to address this issue, however, all but one were reluctant to quote, saying it would be no less than $ 35,000 to start. Terra Nova Plumbing, the only company that gave us quote, said that we should budget $ 29,400.00 – $ 31,100.00 plus GST.

Terra Nova Plumbing has a good reputation, and their pricing is in line with expectations, therefore we are planning to give them the go ahead by the end of the week.

Replacing Well A’s lift station and its installation are identified in the Depreciation Report, therefore we can take the money from the Contingency Reserve Fund (CRF). Since it is an emergency, we are permitted to do this without a vote at a Special General Meeting (SGM), which would require 20 days’ notice. However, we are informing all owners of this decision and would like to hear from you if you have a problem with this course of action—or a better suggestion. Since time is of the essence, please let us know prior to noon on August 22, 2024.

In the interim, the committee will continue to pursue the possibility of other quotes.
