Please do not put any more yard waste on the “yard waste pile” behind the little fence. I have someone coming to pick up what is there now, and then we are done for the season with picking up materials from there.
For any bags of yard waste that people may have stockpiled in their garage after my previous request to do that – is anyone willing to organize and take a bunch of bags of strata residents’ yard waste to a waste facility?
The challenge is:
- the waste facilities in Parksville (both the DBL site, and the RDN transfer station) do not allow the dumping of yard waste that is IN yard waste bags…. you have the empty the yard waste out of the bags (and then the bags can be put into recycling… but not into yard waste.) So, this is a bunch of extra work, for whoever is kind enough to take the bags to the waste facility.
- I have called the Comox Valley waste management site in Cumberland several times but I have only reached voice mail and they haven’t returned by calls, so I don’t know if they are the same. If anyone knows that they allow, could you let me know?
I don’t have a truck that I could fill, nor a hitch to pull the strata trailer. So I would like to check if someone else is willing to organize and do a haul of strata people’s yard waste bags. (I would be willing to meet you at the waste facility and help empty the yard waste bags, if that is needed. I just don’t have the capacity to haul, eh.) Please let me know, and we can figure out things from there.

p.s. the Clean Cuts Tree Services guys have been hard at work yesterday (in the sunshine) and today (in the sideways blowing snow!) to take down the row of cottonwood trees along the fence line. That’s been a big job!
