As a follow up to Council’s direction, Ron Chamney, our FireSmart representative, will be meeting with Don Gray the FireSmart Coordinator for our area on July 10, 2025 at 10 am. FireSmart Canada Neighbourhood Recognition Program (FCNRP) | FireSmart BC
Ron and Don will be touring the strata to discuss how our Strata can improve our FireSmart activities in accordance with the provincial FireSmart Program. FireSmart practices will reduce our risk from wildfires impinging on our strata and may also lead to reduced insurance costs. Ron has completed an online request for FireSmart Assessment of the Strata which will be made available to all owners when completed.

Ron’s experience with the FireSmart program includes: A board director for Alberta Partners in Protection, which instigated the Alberta FireSmart Program. He also coordinated the inception and implementation of the Calgary Fire Department FireSmart Program and worked on Salt Spring Island as a FireSmart consultant.
