There are several Rites of Autumn here, one being the blowing out of the irrigation lines – THANKS to EVERYONE who came out to help with that! And Thanks to Ron LaRoy for organizing this and getting the air compressor. It’s an important job, and our Strata is remarkable in how much everyone who lives here “does stuff” to help make it all run well.
Another Rite of Autumn at LLE is the fall weeding of the entrance way. 🙂 I am going to organize that for next Thursday afternoon, October 13 at 1:30, because Ted is available on Thursday afternoon with his hedge trimmer. Yay! The tasks that will need doing include:
- pulling out weeds along both borders of the entrance way
- pulling out the BIG daisy plants and thistles that grew around the north cement wall by Gainsberg Road
- trimming the shrubs in the entrance way
- to ensure that our signs are visible
- to make sure that we have a clear sight line out to Gainsberg along the cement wall on the south side by Gainsberg Road
- and to make sure the shrubs don’t grow into monsters. 🙂
One other weeding task that still needs to be completed is pulling out the remaining small alder trees around the lower pond. I got a lot of them a few weeks back, and Buck and Dave and I pulled out some bigger ones with Buck’s truck then too, but I noticed there are still some more alders along the north side that need to be pulled. If someone is up for that, please “have at it”, otherwise I will go finish that.
I will send out another note about what to do with yard waste from around your units.
thanks –
Violet
