“Thinning the bull rushes, grass and shrubs in the lower pond” work party, happening next Monday, October 26

Hi all –

We are planning to have one more work party next Monday, October 26, from 10:00 a.m. to probably around noon, at the lower pond.

The purpose is to clear out more of the bull rushes and grasses and shrubs so that the pond does not get overgrown, particularly around the places where we have pipes that bring water into, or drain water out of, the pond.

  • Adrian and Violet will venture forth into the pond to cut stuff and bring it to shore.
  • Some volunteers will be needed to be on shore to pull up what is brought to shore, so that the water can drain out before putting it all in the strata trailer to be hauled away.   Please bring a hard lawn rake or something similar, to help haul the stuff out.
  • (Adrian is planning to check with Don Bannerman about possibly using his grapple hook for some of the pond work.)
  • And on shore, there will be tall pond grass and shrubs to be cut back: please bring grass shears if you have some, and loppers and perhaps a hand saw for cutting shrubs if you have some of those.
  • Rubber boots, and gloves, will likely be very useful to wear 🙂

No need to sign up for this one – please just show up if you are willing to help.

Please contact Violet in #4 if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Violet (on behalf of the LLE Strata Council)
