Hello all –
As was described in the email sent out a few weeks ago, the annual fall work party to winterize the irrigation lines by doing a blow-out of the water from the irrigation lines, is going to happen on Sunday October 18.
Everyone, please locate the green box in the ground that is for the irrigation lines around your unit, and make sure it is clear of shrubs and plants so that it has easy access for the work party people – thanks!
Thanks to everyone who signed up to help! We now have enough volunteers for each of the three time slots, as follows:
- 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. (we will meet and start up at the “top”, by the road to the RV parking area): Jean and Doug Leshures, Tom Tryon, Ron G and Val, and Violet
- 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Donna, Jo Ann and Adrian, Dennis, and Hugh
- 1:00 to whenever it’s done : Don Greggian, Dennis, Michel, and Ted.
A couple of people have let me know they will also show up and help, who are not on the above list.
The three main jobs involved are:
- someone to stand by the compressor (to turn it on and off as needed, including to stand by the compressor in case an emergency shut-off is needed.)
- someone to kneel or sit by the green box in the ground (to attach the compressor hose to the nozzle and turn the various solenoid levers on and off for each watering zone), and
- someone to watch the sprinklers and let the person by the green box know when the water has finished blowing out of all the sprinkler heads for that zone.
There are LOTS of green boxes and zones for us to blow out (30 units, plus the strata zones), which is why it takes much of one day to do this work party.
If you have any questions, please contact Violet in Unit #4: www.violetvanhees.com
Thanks –
Violet (organizing this on behalf of the LLE Strata Council)
p.s. as a related thing: please also remember to turn off your water from inside your unit to the exterior water spigots on your unit, before things start to freeze up. (Frozen water pipes are A Bad Thing, eh.) Thanks!
