Turbidity in Upper Pond Spilling into Adjacent Stream

Turbidity in Upper Pond Spilling into Adjacent Stream

My husband, Ron, late this afternoon observed a person who was operating an excavator and clearing land, pushing dirt and debris into the portion of our waterway that is upstream, but on his property.  Knowing which way the water flowed from there, Ron confirmed that our pond and stream were no longer running with the clear water that we, and all of the creatures that need clean water to breath, enjoy.  Our pond looks like chocolate milk and, consequently, the stream is very turbid too. Sadly, this likely will kill anything that was living that has to filter the water to breath.

I immediately reported this to the Province’s Emergency Coordination Centre (1-800-663-3456), incident reference number ERS 20-2510.  I took pictures and video and sent it in to accompany the incident report.  As a result, we may have environmental officers on site.  If you do see anyone, please refer them to Ron or me in #8 if they have any questions.  If you have anything to add or want to follow up, please reference the incident number above.

Here are photos of our pond.  I had some video too, but it was too large to upload.
