Sprinkler Winterizing work party will be on Thursday, October 6, starting at 9 a.m.

Hi all!

One of the “rites of Fall”, at least at Lighthouse Landing Estates, is our fall sprinkler winterizing work party.  And it’s happening on Thursday, October 6 – woohooooo!   If you can help out, please e-mail Ron LaRoy directly (ronlaroy@shaw.ca) and let him know what time of day you prefer ( first thing in the morning, mid-day, or after lunch).

For those of you new to this, it’s the day we rent an air compressor, and teams of strata residents go to all the sprinkler control boxes around the property to use the air compressor to blow the water out of the irrigation lines so that they don’t freeze up during winter.

The work party is usually done in 2 or 3 shifts, with a team of strata residents helping with each shift.  The “jobs” range from things like:

  • someone watches the sprinklers to let the team at the irrigation box know when there is no more water coming out
  • someone else is in charge of hooking up the air compressor to the sprinkler controls in the boxes and then opening the irrigation lines, one line at a time
  • someone else turns the air compressor on and off, as needed.
  • and a couple of other jobs.

As stated at the start of this email, if you can help, please e-mail Ron LaRoy directly (ronlaroy@shaw.ca) and let him know what time of day you prefer (first thing in the morning, mid-day, or after lunch).  Ron will set up a schedule to send out once he hears back from people.

thanks!

p.s. Please remember to also shut off the water to your unit’s outside faucets from inside your unit around around that time,  again to make sure the water lines don’t freeze in the winter.  Thanks!!
